with a pulse

Huh.. well – I said I wanted to start taking more photos (ideally the kind that’ll help feed us) – and there you go – I got an assignment to develop some new ads for the “formerclientturneddayjobthenbackintoaclient”… (*pause and raise eyebrow*)

anyway – I’m having more fun working with subject material with a pulse than I though I would.

I always like the out-takes more than the finals the client picks… *shrug*

and he’s off

Well.. I said I’d explain… I was taking pictures of dart boards and the arch for some dart tournament thing JJ’s is hosting in October…. Other entities are involved which meant I got to break out of the rigid marketing format for the bar and do something different….

Today’s “studio day” – which is nice day-job talk for “my free day to run around and tend to freelance clients”.

And run I must… Have to make a pit-stop at my mom’s first thing this morning and play Mac doctor for her ill i-mac. (How are folks of our parents’ generation able to gunk-up even the most stable of operating systems?)… Then off to measure for a sign installation for another client – then by the bar to show him the said dart tournament poster and materials and oh look a chicken.

handyman, handyman, handyman, handyman, …..

Returned to work yesterday running at full speed, no… nichts that – double / triple speed… (like a complete idiot). Feeling it this morning – that damn whatever it was still dancing around in the back of my throat threatening to come back.

Got to play dress up though yesterday which was fun in a Village People sorta way… Developing on-brand uniforms for the maintenance guys… Another entry on why careers in design are good for anyone with a short attention span: “It’s always something different”…

Sporadically over the last few months I’ve acquainted myself with the multi-million dollar industry of commercial uniforms. (I had no idea).

So even if it’s something as butch as repairmen uniforms – does it still count as fashion design? Regardless – Jean Paul Gaultier won’t be calling anytime soon.

I’ve come to realize I enjoy creating the pitches that sell / explain a design more than the design itself… I’m not exactly sure what that means either oh look a chicken.
