rorschack

Catching up on sleep… It’s been helping this darkasode. I’m still reserving final judgement on the new mattress – but so far – it very well may be the best I’ve slept in a long time… (film at 11).

Pulled the tie-dyed tablecloth from Sunday night out of it’s plastic bag and rinsed…. and repeated…

It didn’t turn out very good…. I’m pretty certain we weren’t heavy-handed enough with the dye. It’s o.k. though, we’ve got two more table cloths to experiment with… (There’s talk of hosting our OWN tie-dye party now.)

Meanwhile we’ve got a big Rorschack test…. and I don’t have a blog.

productive

As usual… Feast or Famine. I’m still using all available “awake / coherent computer time” for trying to get these two projects out the door.

Kevin is turning out to be a good little production artist… He needs a little more training – but thanks to his expertise with the drawing tools in Flash, he’s helping me churn out a lot of the more repetitive tedious stuff that’s on the table.

Meanwhile Chad was off yesterday. He spent the better part of the day sitting across from me knitting.

“Furry Yarn” seems to be all the rage – and he’s turning out scarfs with Chinese-Child-Labor-Like speed.

Nonetheless – between figuring out sign scales and whatnot yesterday – I could look up from my computer and smile and be reminded why I’m working so damn hard.

I guess it’s the equivalent to hanging photos of loved ones up in one’s cubical.

I guess this is the equivalent to a blog.

*but it’s not…

edible eichleresque

Once Kevin got done making the icing we all took our whack at decorating the little edible version of our home.

We always have a surplus of candy sitting around so we didn’t have to pick up many supplies from the store.

I must admit you get a certain Wonka-vibe sitting around trying to figure out which pieces of candy resemble architectural elements.

Big Red chewing gum makes decent redwood siding.
Gumdrops make for decent fireplace masonry.
Starburst, windows and doors.

So now we have this structure sitting in our dining room that would kill at least three diabetics.

I’m not entirely certain what we’re going to do with it…. besides not blog about it.

gingerbread

The guys have started experimenting with baking this season….. “Experiment” is appropriate I guess since they say “Baking is a Science” and “Cooking is an art”…

I can hold my own when cooking, but baking? – That’s an entirely different story. Considering that Chemistry is the only subject I ever failed in school – my baking abilities are limited to opening a can of biscuits or making pizza-rolls.

So.. after a few successful batches of cookies in the past couple of weeks – the guys decided they were going to try a whack at the supreme holiday cliche: The Gingerbread House.

Chad was thrilled… It involved making something.
Kevin was thrilled… It involved diagrams and plans.

They showed me the initial sketches which resembled something like a whacked out Swiss A-Frame… I pouted my lips and asked why they weren’t doing “OUR” house – or at the very least – something modern.

I don’t know why they put up with this bitchy art-direction… We all know I’ll wind up not lifting a finger on the project… Nonetheless, Kevin returned later with a cardboard mock up of a house roughly resembling our own.

They got to making the gingerbread, (from scratch), and the icing which will serve as a bonding material.

I learned what “Cream of Tartar” was.

By 10PM they were assembling the walls… Apparently it’s a long process and they have to let it all set up overnight before they put the roof on. They’ll do the next step tonight.

It’ll give me something to not blog about later.
