I think we’re getting into a night-time rut… MarioKart™ is the most potent video crack we’ve ever tasted.
Kevin and Chad have now played so much that they’ve beaten every race, unlocked every character and special course.
They’re now bored with the notoriously “shiny” Nintendo soundtrack so now they’ve taken to listening to CDs while playing – and have determined their own soundtracks for the different courses.
The Desert Theme Track: Pet Shop Boys – Home & Dry (remix)
The City Street Theme Track: L7 – Shitlist
The Bowser Castle Theme Track: Patti Smith – Rock n’ Roll Nigger
and so on….
Our television isn’t big enough for all three of us to play effectively – and I suck compared to them – so I’ll busy myself elsewhere.
That cats seem to be developing a complex about the little attention monopolizing black box. One of them chewed through one of the controller’s cables the other day.
Leave it to the pets to come up with the most direct approach.
I just sigh a lot out-loud, take photos and have one-sided conversations… Damn you to hell Mario.
I’m bitching.. not blogging.
all good friends should match your decor
My internal calendar is completely fucked. Sundays feel like Fridays… Mondays feel like…. wrong.
Saturday was spent taking a whack at the office reorganization, this will take a while. We’ve decided to go ahead and open talks with our friends about occupying a nook at their loft downtown.
chrisglass showed up in the evening… His buddy Art was catching a train out of STL to return to KC the next day… Perfect excuse for a pop-in and crash-out.
Chris wound up returning from dropping Art off and staying the rest of Sunday…
UNO, O2, Mario Kart / Party and inventing words like “Froat” and “Porkubus”… This is typical of most of Mr. Glass’ visits. It’s a five-hour road-trip for him to hang out like a college student at a neighboring dorm room. It suits us well. *but we wish he lived 5 minutes instead of 5 hours away.
We need to get up to Cinci to veg-out in his living-room for a weekend.
I need to get outa the house more – I’ve noticed all of my photos have been from confines of our little house since the holidays hit.
I’m not blogging.
virtual italian guy stereotype
Wednesday off… Nothing profound about the day except the discovery of P’zones from Pizza Hut. (Imagine a sauceless medium piazza folded over on itself and baked… sorta a Hot Pocket™ on steroids). Friggin genius. The fact that you can have these delectable little treats delivered to your door? – sheer brilliance.
mojobear returned home from work running in circles demanding we go to Best Buy immediately. Apparently MarioKart has been finally released for the GameCube.
*Mario, a stout Italian plumber and Nintendo’s anchor character, dashes with his buddies around hazard littered, three dimensional courses on little buggies armed with weapons like banana peels and projectile turtle shells.
The game lacks the mindless simplicity of its predecessor on the N64 platform, but it’s fun nonetheless.
The soundtrack is vaguely Mighty-Mighty Bosstones.
We played it for the rest of the night… I kept on noticing and wondering why the fine Japanese folks at Nintendo’s game development devision draw eyes (and smiles) on inanimate objects. It’s overkill in this title. The Sun has a smile… the mountains each have eyes. Road signs have eyes and smiles…
hmmm.. maybe I should draw eyes and smiles into every blog page… wait a second.. I don’t blog.
