MAYbe-gone

Last day of May… Good riddance. (Memorial Day weekend was good and barely documented – which included late-BBQ celebration for Chad’s birthday at my mom’s… damn that woman can cook).

You really don’t realize, (or at least I didn’t), just how out of whack a crashed computer can make your life.

I’m *still* feeling aftershocks… Mostly now though in the way of having my routines messed up: Blog in the mornings… pay bills on the 2nd weekend… etc.

Been hyper focused on work stuff lately which is cool (and needed) – but I can already smell the cold dank smell of stagnation behind the door…. Can’t fall into 9 to 5 creative drone mentality… Just have to smack myself a few times to keep trying to look at things with new chickens.

wait a second… did I just blink or something… wasn’t there just a weekend somewhere in there?

Sunday: Mother’s Day… Gave mom a wad of roses and *attempted* to take her to brunch… I didn’t make reservations thinking we’d find *somewhere* to eat… (I missed the memo about Mother’s Day being the busiest restaurant day). After an hour and a half of wandering the city we wound up at Steak n’ Shake. I apologized profusely and promised a better brunch in the near future.

Saturday: Some work, then Dad’s, Costco, Nap, hung out at Steve and Leah’s… in that order.

Friday: Late night with Elise over. Prior to that was a busy / productive work-day with a real nice lunch break of walking down the street with archigoddess Erin to the still kinda newishContemporary Art Museum

I’d been to the neighboring Pulitzer building – but had never made it in to see the newer MCA…

It’s a big, stark concrete box.

I love it.

We grabbed sandwiches at sandwich counter, (a Wolfgang Puck kiosk) and sat in courtyard which made realize just how much I really *do* love minimalism.

I’d have better luck pursuing immortality than minimalism-as-lifestyle – but it still turns me on.

I’ve realized though it’s impossible to achieve chicken.

Woke Saturday morning to a yard full-o-eggs… Little plastic two-tone lavender and robin’s egg ones…. Some with candy… some with none.

why am I rhyming?

We thought it was another cute PTA fundraiser for the Lindbergh district behind which Elise was no doubt the orchestrator.

Wrong-Oh.

It was my mom…

We retaliated by making her a basket with chocolate almond treats (she loves) and Peeps, (she loathes). We also made a basket for my dad and little Andrew.

Easter day we got invited to my mother’s friend’s home for their annual pot-luck Easter brunch and easter-egg hunt.

These folks live in a very nice part… of a very nice part of St. Louis called Webster Groves. (Joan and her woofy Japanese-American hubby are doctors and don’t want for very much besides new tax shelters).

One of the neighbors shows up in a bunny suit and once everyone’s done eating, the kids are sequestered into the house while bunny and a handful of guest-helpers litter the football field front yard.

The kids all freaked and had a great time…. Meanwhile I though how refreshing it was to eat sushi on Easter oh look at chicken.

ocho de mama cinco… urr… day.

Hectic weekend… I called it Spring Cleaning… Kevin called it “Holy shit your Mom and Mark are coming over and the house is a wreck!”

Had a big Mexican theme BBQ and a nice visit.

Mom felt adequately appreciated… Mission accomplished… and hey! the house got clean too! We need more Hallmark sponsored excuses to invite your parents over for dinner.

Today is Chad’s birthday… So, (after a smidgen of work this morning) – We’re off to cart him around town and spoil him.

All of which I’m sure won’t be blogged.
