I got a J.O.B.
well… sorta a J.O.B….. Pseudojob? The closest thing to one I’ve had in damn near eight years. I see it more as a retainer with medical benefits and they take care of that annoying “tax stuff” for me.
I’m now the graphic designer / marketing director for the restoration contractor client I’ve been servicing for the last year.
The offer came about as a result of me flirting with full-time opps around town… and the VP who I’ve become rather friendly with after a year of working together found out I still didn’t have health insurance.
She basically read me the riot act and said: “why don’t you just work for me!”… well.. I had to chew on it for a while, (thus the internal turmoil I intimated at last week)…. Once I convinced myself that I was not selling out – I went back to the table and accepted.
So.. I’m workin for the man now! (urr.. well.. more like “Workin for the Woman”).. It’s more like a part-time gig based on a certain number of committed hours per week… so I can still service my other accounts.
Thus the comment above “it’s more like a retainer with bennies”.
So… Honestly….
Am I happy about the comforting feeling of knowing there’s a check waiting for me every other week?
Am I happy about not having to worry about getting sick or hurting myself and not having insurance?
sure…
Am I giddy because they gave me my own hard-hat to wear on sites?
you betcha!… woooF! (*school girl squeels*)
*am I blogging?
nope.
