Hello? Shoppers Anonymous?
Sent babybear off to Hard Rock, worked on some projects and we were up and out, (fielding client calls as we walked).
The 600 and 700 blocks of Michigan Avenue…
Apple…. Nike… Sony…. Timberland… Room and Board….
Mojobear threatened to take my wallet if I didn’t behave.
Yes.. I know – Nike sucks because of their policy of using slave labor to make their shoes – but good lord are their stores something else to look at. Plasma display screens mounted vertically, custom banisters baring the little swoosh in cast stainless… EEEK! I kept my ethics about me and didn’t spend a dime – but satisfied my design whore and walked every square inch of the place.
The Apple Store…. Even prettier and bigger than the one in St. Louis.
The employees – nearly the same.. (Except these kids all looked like they hadn’t bathed in two weeks). Did I miss the fuckin’ memo? Is there some new cool-standard I’m not aware of – or am I just getting old.
I did pick up a new pair of shoes and an “urban guy” backpack. (A must have for tracking around big cities.) I don’t feel like such a tourist now either with a camera glued to my hand.
We burned several hours before finally getting something to eat and returning to the hotel to relax and not blog.
Out this evening to explore. Film at 11.
