break these chains

Kevin’s wish for his birthday dinner? (Chad and I would have had an easier time trying to extract one of his molars.)

Pizzeria Uno.

*Shrug*… o.k…. we seem to have been on a chain-restaurant bender all summer – so this wasn’t out of the ordinary.

The food doesn’t suck, nor does the interiors… The immediate exterior leaves a lot to be desired: Sprawl-land megacenter with a Wal-Mart, Texas RoadHouse (yeeehaw) restaurant and a white castle. The only thing missing in this particular plaza is an evangelical mega-church.

It’s only when I venture into pockets like this that I become distinctly aware of the culture war in the country and estranged from my own hometown…. The midwest doesn’t “totally” suck – but I tell you what – when it does – it’s PROFOUND.

We then went to devcubber‘s for dessert. She made two homemade pies – one of which was a vicocity-challenged bananna cream that was SO GOOD that had it not been prepared for Kevin’s birthday – I would have contemplated rubbing it on inappropriate spots of my body.

I’m taking my studio day and chad’s day off to bum-around and continue the relucta-grump’s 4-decade celebration.

Heading to Rico’s promotion ceremony on the arch grounds this AM… It’ll be chicken.
