Ring Ring…. Ring Ring….

“Hello?”

“What are you wearing….. and hows your hang over? – Can Andy and I come over tonight?”

Elise has been faithfully following the blog I don’t have.

Andy was finally back in town – and last night they went on a “date”…. That’s so cute how married couples will do that. They found a sitter for little Andy – and went out for dinner and drinks… Now I don’t know how an ideal date includes going over to your pet-faggots house – but I’m not about to complain or critique. I hadn’t seen Andy since before Elise and I fell out of touch years ago.

I greeted them at the door and instinctually bypassed Andy’s outstretched hand and gave him a hug. Woops… I constantly have to remind myself that men in this country aren’t used to friendly embrace. I then spent the following 30 minutes worrying that I made him uncomfortable by doing that. Awkwardness aside, I was genuinely happy to finally see him… Still the same sweet mannered gentlemen… If I had closed my eyes prior to hugging him hello – I may have thought I missed and was hugging the tree in our front yard. I knew that our gab-factor with Elise would overshadow Andy’s company. He’s more the quiet type, happily, and selflessly letting his own personal diva take front-center stage…

I quickly thought… “huh… damn – think of something guy-like to do”… THAT’S IT! Stikfas!

I pulled out the ones I got from Easter that I’ve already assembled. We talked about the developmental merits of them for children. The good father-son angle of the toys since assembly DEFINITELY needs adult intervention. The toys’ lack of predetermined context or commercial tie in allowing children to rely more on their own imagination rather than a co-op’d poorly made cartoon.

The “grown up” parental psychobabble didn’t last long before I flopped the box for AFK-6 “Omega Male – Armored Knight with Stallion” down in front of Andy and said “Ya wanna put one together?”

He didn’t hesitate to tear right into the box, raise an eyebrow and grin a little.

The rest of the visit was spent assembling the Stikfa and chatting.

They had to go all too soon but they didn’t want to keep the babysitter too late….

I’d blog about this but why should I… Mystery Friend Elise has joined LiveJournal!
So I’ll just let her do the blogging instead.

PS – her LJ name is devcubber – ya’ll give her a good hearty LJ welcome – ya-hear?
