boomerang to 312

cruising the rest-area

The couple of days back in St. Louis were crazed. I ran frantically to clients to get the necessary “Face Time” in for the week and crammed my work files onto the new laptop as fast as bandwidth would allow.

I was a man obsessed.

mojobear stayed up the previous night until 3AM doing laundry and packing our bags. When he finally came to bed – I was up and took over. Between loads of laundry I’d sit and learn the ins and outs of the laptop and feverishly rip CDs into iTunes for the trip.

Daylight come – I thought we’d never get out of town.

Two trips back out to apathy-central (The apple store) to get a cigarette plug power cable and tape cassette adapter so we could listen to iTunes over the car stereo.

I commented to the snitty homo at Apple about how funny it was that here I was with a one gig processor, marvel of portable technology and having to resort to such an “80’s” piece of hardware for the best results…

He failed to see the humor… hissed.. and sent me on my way.. (bitch).

En-route, mojobear started messing around with some hacker software he found for probing and cracking into wireless networks. (The boy is scary like that). Surprisingly, there’s a lot of signals out there on the open road. Usually around truck stops and weigh stations. He hasn’t successfully “hitchhiked” onto someone else’s air… yet.. But he’s a man with a mission. Whenever we stopped I enjoyed just watching the little graph spike with air-network activity – that made me feel “naughty” enough in a geeky sorta hacker way.

We finally got into Chicago at 10pm.

I was exhausted – and fell asleep while everyone sat up and exchanged stories of what had happened while we were away.. The following post is an example of what can happen when you leave your camera out and your don’t set a password on your laptop.
