serial hook = I’m babbling.

commentary: Made it back in one piece… came back to some hot projects though so I’ll be editing and sharing pics piecemeal through the week – like this one from a charter trip for a bunch of salesmen from the U.S…. (the water was too rough to take the ship out – so when this happens – tour groups get taken to the nightclub and given the whole place to run-amuck for four hours…. Party-rutting midwestern sales executives, pirate costume theme, open bar,… need I say more?

serial hook = I’m babbling.

commentary: pooped… Spent the afternoon aboard one of the pirate ships… The sun and ambient humidity are real energy zappers for me… Troy stopped me in the lobby on one of my trips schlepping props and lights to one of the resort rooms I was shooting tonight. He wanted to know why I was so sweat soaked for just pointing a camera and pressing a button…. I wanted to know what was keeping me from bludgeoning him over the head with the lamp I was carrying.

I just get grumpy when I get tired… despite the slow-ass pace down here and wacky variables – it looks like I may just get everything knocked off my shot list….

Got back home last night around midnight… Last couple of days has kicked my ass chasing the sun around the island… but effort was worth it… I got enough to work with to put together some marketing poop for the boats.

Still may post some more pics and stories as I sift through memory cards.

It was so nice to see Kevin again… and the cats kids again… and our bed.. OHHH our bed… OUR sheets…. OUR towels…. OUR water pressure.

Last time I was down on the island – I went down with the bosses on their private jet… and from there I was pretty much carried around like a handbag.. This time we were really on our own which allowed for some observations, (only slightly exagerated):

1. Americans are obnoxious assholes.

2. All Europeans smoke.

3. Driving on the left-side of the road is a serious mind-fuck.

3.5 If you’re in a left-side-drive country… WALK on that side too. (on sidewalks, in malls, etc)… You’ll get smiles and “hellos” instead of smirks and up-turned noses.

4. Everything on-island is prohibitively expensive which makes me wonder how the biggest employment segment, (the service sector), survives.

5. Americans are obnoxious assholes.

day 1. part 3

I was so tired that it felt like I had just laid my head down on the pillow for a moment when I heard Amy call out.. “Corbett! Get up we gotta go!!!”

To celebrate the closing on the resort and christen the second (newly commissioned) pirate ship – we had a party cruise aboard what is now called the Anne-Bonnie.

It was a smaller get together… the party of 30 comprised the gang from St. Louis… The Cayman management… boss owner types and their families and some real estate big shots.

The water was a lot calmer in the evening than earlier that day… Good thing too because I didn’t have a chance to stop by a drug-store and find one of those sea-sickness patches.

A nice spread of food was laid out in the galley, and a friendly, busty blonde manned the open bar and we, literally, sailed into the sunset.

All in all it was about a 3 hour cruise.

(resist urge to sing and make Gilligan’s Island references).

At about hour two, once my memory sticks were filled I got super schmoopy thinking how incredible the experience was followed by a little teary guilt wishing the guys were with me.

Erin helped pull my head outa my ass and we spent the remainder of the cruise chatting.

Hit a monkey-themed bar for ho-hum munchies and drinks before hitting my pillow later.

The day felt like a week.

This however does not feel like a blog.
