Why do they call it a “Head Cold”?
My head is not cold… It’s not particularly hot either.
“Head Concrete” or “Cranial Epoxy” would be more apt.
I feel like complete crap.
Meanwhile, here it is Friday the 13th and not a hockey mask in sight.
No matter – I just took a morning dose of the anytime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever so I can’t blog medicine.

today’s diet
I suppose it was only a matter of time.
Half of Chad’s family was sick when we were visiting. devcubber has been sick… My dad’s been sick…
It started here with Chad and now it’s on me. This season’s critter has latched on and is nagging.
It’s not a full-on “I want to die” sick… it’s more like a roaming congestion, moving from either side of your head, then to the throat, then into your chest, then back again.
We learned a homeopathic treatment for head congestion when we stopped at a tiny mountain hippy healthfood store in PA: Boil a cup of vinegar on the stove and inhale the fumes, (through your nose).
It sounds crazy – and it’s definitely not pleasant…. but it works…
We went over to Elise’s last night for hot chocolate, iced coffee and cookies and we all did a round of hits off the apple cider vinegar on the burner.
Worked like a charm – my head cleared for the rest of the night….
I shouldn’t bitch… I seem to only come down with something once-a-year…. And, so far, this is better than last year’s bout.
I shouldn’t blog either.
as seen on some fancy menus
So… Somewhere in the throws of this week’s chaos, Kevin finally decided to let me know that his “back pain”, (the assumed result of extra long days in the garden last weekend), was most likely a kidney stone.
He shares my current health coveragelessness – but he was able to self diagnose through research and quizzing doc friends.
Of course, he tried to keep from telling me as long as possible since I was already dealing with mom this past week, and my proclivity toward panic and worry. (*getting a lot better about this though).
He swears it’s getting better and the homeopathic treatments he found online are working. (drinking gallons of water per day, cranberry juice and a tea made from watermelon seeds).
Kevin also assures that though he hates doctors, he knows enough to watch for watch for the bad signs and will alert us if he needs formal medical attention. (Thankfully thanks to his stint in the first Middle-East debacle – he can get treatment at the VA Hospital).
We’ll be taking it easy this weekend and I’ll be trying not to get too frustrated with it all…
I’ll also not be blogging too.
