right on target

The great clean-out and organize in the back of the house required a trip to Target.. it’s all good – we were due up anyway for what’s becoming out seasonal trip to the retailer.

Our self-induced retail / media deprivation makes going to Target like going to the circus….

Target at CHRISTMAS TIME? Oh wow… we were lost for over an hour.

Their commitment to design floors me… everything from the new “Vintage Modern” line of inexpensive furniture you can put together yourself to their new line of “designy” chocolates.

Every little detail on every little product has been obviously touched by a designer. Nothing looks “just schlocked together”…. because it’s “just a box for a product”… EVERYTHING exhibits a kind of thoughtfulness that just makes me feel a.o.k. about forkin over my cash for (insert WHATEVER).

I wonder if any trade-rags have written about how the store has changed their image and have embraced this whole “design for the masses” thing. It’s the stuff consumer-design-theory texts would (should) be made of.

In high-school I distinctly remember the admission that your family shopped at Target was a source of shame and embarrassment.

I’m not blogging – I’m admitting to adoring the store with the big red logo.
