cathartic klatch

Not a single drop of alcohol has touched my lips and I’m hung over…. holihungover.

Christmas Eve:
Went to dad’s house and played drive-in theater on the laptop from the sofa and watched American Beauty and Fight Club.
We talked of film, philosophy, the probability of me having his genetic gift of A.D.D. and the curious laxative nature of sugar-free chocolate.

I was slated to sleep there, but either an cold or an allergy attack hit me and I told him I had to go home to sleep but would return first thing in the morning. By the time the decongestants kicked in, it was 3am.

Christmas Day: (a.k.a. holiday tech support day).
Rolled outa bed at 7am – and headed back to dad’s to cook Christmas breakfast. (Veal and Eggs).
I hooked up my present to him, a Wacom drawing tablet for his G5.
Raced home… fed the cats… wrapped my mom’s presents… then headed to her house.

Hung out at mom’s and ate “mom-holiday goodies”:
• mint chocolate chip cookies
• braunschweiger ball (poor man’s pate)
• home-made beer cheese spread
• home-made lavash (flat seed encrusted crackers)
• ham sammiches on dollar rolls with lots of mustard and durke’s

Mark got mom a digital camera so I figured I’d add to the silicon bakeware stuff I got mom and run back home and get my Panther installation discs and spend the better part of the afternoon upgrading her iMac from 10.1 to “spur of the second up to date”. Followed by iPhoto tutorials.

When I wasn’t swapping installation CDs and stuffing my face, I helped Mark with the present mom got him – an HP iPaq… a damn cool little gizmo… Basically it’s an iPod meets a laptop.. Wireless internet-able… will work as a universal remote control… and a full featured palm-computer.. It runs a stripped down version of Windows – so I found it annoying, but not impossible to get the hang of and get it set up…

Exhausted – I left and stopped by Elise’s where she had her old-school friends over for a late night after-party… I made a b-line for the espresso maker…

I only held out for a couple of hours – but it’s always cool to meet your friend’s “other” friends – especially ones from previous eras.

Headed home to two extremely jilted cats, slugged more decongestants down and went to bed.

The house is so super nasty I’ve grossed myself out.

Despite a natural knack for chaos – I think I subconsciously trashed the house so I could clean it… This is the final week in the year when I’ll also clean up my computer and back up the year’s project files… Do end-of-the year business stuff…

It’s all very cathartic.

it’s all very not blog worthy.
