in the oven

My old colleague and friend Erin came to visit / hang out last night… We’ve barely seen each other since she got married 3 years ago and i went into hermit midlife deconstruct mode.

It’s a good friend sign when you can go for so long and when you get back together it’s like you just talked yesterday. She brought me armfulls of homemade holiday goodies…

She reached into her purse and started pulling out an envelope and said “I have something to show you…”

Without missing a beat or looking up while fixing my cocktail I immediately said: “I know… You’re pregnant… I could tell when you walked through the door.”

She was a little confused since she just found out and was showing no physical signs yet…

I had to explain how pregnant girls have a certain “glow” about them… It’s pretty obvious to me.

To give myself an excuse to fidget I asked to take some portraits of her… and to try and capture some of that Peggerglow.

She recounted stories of newlywedhood…
I bitched about boys…
We giggled a lot and promised not to wait another 3 years before hanging out again.
