Stopped by my aunt’s house before getting on the road back to Tampa.
Stopped to take a couple pics of my uncle’s (aunt’s hubby) baby – a lovingly restored Pinto… A tiny car with a very large engine with a penchant for exploding from the seventies… I totally dug the paint job… I don’t think I’d get away painting my station wagon like this…. nonetheless – there’s something about the shinny chrome, blended paint and big wheels that just inspires the word…. “Bitchin”
Sitting off on the sidelines of the driveway is an old Maverick in surprisingly good shape… waiting for that last little nudge of love and a paint job and it will become my youngest cousin’s car when he turns 16.
I tried to explain the the kitsch-significance of the car to him – but got the flat-line, yet polite, dead-pan nods that teenagers are famous for.
Hopefully they’ll keep the great graphics on the car intact, (or recreate them) – when they go to paint it.
Gave myself enough time to head back to Tampa at a leisurely pace and stopped by an outlet mall on the way and bought underwear.
The trip was fine… got done what I needed to do.. got to see some family… and I enjoyed the quiet contemplative drives…
All not blog worthy.
