“My Monkey” by Luke Chueh

Chueh’s work drives me nuts *anyway*…. then I get this email this morning from his mailing list.

Sweet white baby jesus – is there any need?

well.. pragmatically… no… no need.

but there’s sure a hell of a lot of want.

*shudder*

I mean come ooooooooooon…. no fair.

why does the universe tease me so?

If anyone’s in Palm Springs this weekend,…. and they’re selling these posters….

oh please oh please oh please… I’ll pay you back… In fact… I’ll pick it up in person.

commentary = took the nieces to The City Museum on Saturday. It’s a big old warehouse downtown which was converted into:

part architectural museum showing off parts of (and sometimes entire scavenged facades) of buildings that didn’t make it in St. Louis….

part children’s museum / exploration space…

part mammoth interactive found-art sculpture thing… (think if Salvador Dali designed jungle gyms and scaled it big enough for adults to crawl around on as well as kids).

Hadn’t been there in years… It’s quadrupled in size since then… Despite the hordes of screaming children, it was still crazy fun. I want to go back with my big camera… preferably when the space is empty of course…. maybe when my multi-task count drops below 5 endeavors again I’ll send ’em a proposal or work my channels to try and get in there off-hours to make some images.

commentary = a painting from Luke Chueh: http://lukechueh.com/ -… this is the kinda stuff that when the means are at my disposal – I would / will spend shameful sums of money for treasures such as these.

handcuffs

Hand me the handcuffs. I was half tempted to just drop-out and put my head down on here for the next couple of weeks while I get a handle on the whirling, multi-armed resource hog the day job has become.

Speaking of multi-armed monsters…. I found *ONE* pic from Wednesday’s trip to the Dale Chihuly Show at The Missouri Botanical Gardens. (Part of Chad’s birthday celebration).

The bulk of the show was in this muggy geodesic dome called the Climatron®.

And muggy it was… my camera was chronically fogged until we were ready to leave…. The show was really something else though… A new appreciation of plants and familiarity with H.P. Lovecraft made the trip all that much more CHICKEN!
