schmooz & booze

mom schmoozing

In town all day yesterday. Dropped off that logo re-draw project… Shot the schmidt with those clients then scooted over to LoanScapes and worked there for the day working on some new ad pitches and taking individual grip and grins of the loan officers.

The afternoon flew by and before I knew it I had to high-tail it to Fenton to make an appearance at my mom’s screening party for a short film she worked as writer/producer on for The Missouri Department of Agriculture / Grape and Wine Board.

As good as they are for business, I loathe schooz-fests anymore. Nonetheless I slugged down a couple of glasses of Norton and did my best to be the hyper-charming-tush-kiss son of the producer that was expected.

The party was at a post production facility where one of my oldest colleague-friends, George Shea, works as the design director / son-in-law of the president. (He’s the talent behind the base cartoon character which became the JJ’s Logo). We hid in his office before the event ramped up and looked at his compulsively growing collection of extremely high-end Star Wars memorabilia. It was good to hang out with him again.George Shea of VisionTracks

The food spread was yummy… (and free – as was the vino). Mom’s always been good at throwing parties.

State officials, radio personalities and “industry people” milled around and they screened the piece. It was a nicely shot little docu-info type thing…. They announced after the viewing that the piece was just awarded a Telly Award… (go mom).

I didn’t get home till almost 9pm and had plenty of stories for the guys… Nothing to blog about though.

stir crazy

gimmie the gimmick

Mom called today and asked if I’d meet her out in the hinterlands of West-Suburban Saint Louis today to snap a few photos for a story she’s doing on a new restaurant… (She’s a food-writer).

Some place called “Stir Crazy”… Apparently it’s a chain.

Over the top interior architecture and branded out the wazoo. Not a bad place actually.

The gimmick? You get a little bowl and get to peruse a vegie bar filling it with whatever you like… Pick your sauce. Pick your meat…. Hand it to the mexican behind the glass (silkscreened with tasty type and graphics)…

Chicken, veggies, rice noodles and a Thai Hot Basil Sauce.

Not bad… And definitely worth the 120 seconds it took me to crank off a couple of shots for mama-sahn.

Still haven’t found my grove thang yet…. and I’m still not blogging.
