he calls it a lay-sir

More cleaning and organizing over the weekend… The guys tackled the carport & storage closets and I made a respectable dent in the office.

Fun stuff included Leah and Stephen on Saturday night for Scrabble and Moo-Sho pork.. Friday night was Science Experiment Beta-testing with Elise.

“Science experiment beta testing?”…. Right…. Slightly (but not terribly convoluted story):

We originally discovered MAKE magazine last year when visiting Glass in Cinci…. I liked the pretty clean design and Kevin liked the articles about making automatons out of old dishwasher parts.

That was it – the magazine eventually got gobbled up by the periodical monster that lives in the bathroom closet.

We got reacquainted with the mag when Kiwi brought a small stack of Woofer’s (he has a subscription) to borrow.

Now there’s renewed talk of Kevin really wanting a workshop shed in the backyard again.

Regardless – there’s fun kid stuff to do in the issues and so naturally we thought of the god-son. Of course, then the big-kids-in-denial that we are decided we had to try one of the experiments with his mom to “test for safety, educational validity and neat-o-factor.”

urr.. so that was Friday… which involved an empty two liter bottle, a pen laser and those silly red-laser safety goggles Kalz… I mean Kevin insisted on wearing citing something about chicken.

I’ve already mentioned how my dad is the king of finding obscure items online… (and then gifting them).

Last week the UPS man dropped off a box containing a “sprouter”.

Think Jr. Hydroponics Lab.

You load up the tray with seeds, put the dome top on and plug it in… A little water-wheel whirly-gig keeps everything wet on intervals while a heater regulates the temperature.

We had our first harvest of spouts yesterday… Alfalfa…

Going to try a mix of broccoli and radish next.

Not going to blog about it.
