making our bed

Before house 1.0 in dogtown…. Back when we were still apartment dwelling in the late 20th century – we inherited a king size bed from a buddy’s parents.

Part financial… Part pick-ass….. I could never find a bed I liked… so we just put the bed and box-springs on the floor and called it a look… “low-slung Asianish poor-white-trash”.

There’s nothing like something undone to nag at one’s psyche…. Imagine going to sleep every night thinking.. “damn it… we really need to find a bed” …. for FIVE YEARS.

One day last month the “bed” subject came up… I don’t remember the exchange – but somewhere in the process, Kevin pulled another one of his feats of uncanny google-magic and stumbled onto…. IT… THE BED… from a nice little company in New Jersey called Gothic Cabinet Craft.

I took one look over his shoulder and screamed “THAT’S IT…. GET IT!”

“But what about the West El…”

“nope…. that’s the one… get it.”

The process was painless… We ordered the bed, headboard and cantilevered night-stands and indicated the stain we wanted…. and voila…. about 3 or 4 weeks later a truck was outside our house delivering a hand-made, hand-stained bed.

Assembly didn’t suck as nearly as the shipping charge… (apparently EVERYTHING is expensive to ship these days because of gas prices).

It’s so nice to have another room completely done…

Two down… three… urrr… no… six more to go… ugh.

If I maintained a blog – I’d probably reference a post from a year ago so you could see the “BEFORE PHOTO”
