Had a nice time over at Elise’s after work on Monday night.

According to Lucy, (hailing from Austin) – the croc thing has busted out this summer and aren’t just a strange ubiquitous St. Louis thing anymore.

I looked down and found myself feeling uncomfortably… fashionable.

How could anything so ugly be anything more than a simple, comfortable, pragmatic choice in chicken?

We leave this weekend for Myrtle Beach for a week of, get this, JUST US… No toddlers, in-laws or friends… Just us three, Chad’s parent’s vacation home and a golf cart (to drive the few blocks to the beach). That’s it!

Moohahah! Finally – the excuse I needed to lobby for my own friggin pair of Crocs.

We originally found them online in the Spring and got a pair for Chad for working in the garden. (Since Kev and I had flip-flops).

By mid-summer, “Could I have my shoes back?” was commonly heard around the house.

You wouldn’t really guess they’re all that by looking at them. They’re plastic shoes for crying out loud…. ahh… but there’s the catch! What “kind” of plastic!!? I’m sure that is the subject of patents and closely guarded trade secrets… but, between you, me and anyone else who spent the better part of their childhood in the late 1970’s? – THEY’RE FRIGGIN NERF.

They’re naturally nasty-resistant, crazy comfy, waterproof – and apparently over the course of a single summer – the hottest damn thing in St. Louis. *I specify our town because folks who we recently hung out with from New York had no idea what they were, but had wondered why everyone in this city was walking around with Technicolor gnome shoes on.

Nonetheless – the three times I’ve tried to get a pair at local retailers have been sold out.

The wide color choice would suggest they’re faddy – but they’re so damn comfortable, and considering our love-hate relationship with “Pop” – I”m going to insist they’re simply “Popular”.

That said I’m longing for an orange pair…. All they had I liked at the store was brown… Which is safe.

I’m wearing them right now in fact..

I’m not blogging however.
