Kevin & Hoss

So yeah – I’m still trying to catch up in bits and pieces from last week and I hate back-posting…. sooooo… Set the way back machine to a week ago yesterday…

(insert time travel sound effects here)

Where to start… Kevin, (mine), and I met John, (a.k.a. “Hoss”, a.k.a. “Hause” as he prefers to spell it), while cam-chatting one evening in the B.C. (Before Chad).

After a few weeks we finally convinced him to meet us out back in the hey day of our ritual Tuesday Happy Hour Group night.

The whole group took to him – and why not? Here was this strapping six foot plus of a cowboy with the temperament and innocence of a big kid. Hoss became a great friend – and regular savior for a multitude of home improvements and repair projects.

I guess it was about a year later that he got a little scarce and secretive. He had met someone he was dating but was terrified to bring the guy around the group for fear we’d do our usual psycho-vivisection of friends’ suitors.

It took well over a month of badgering before Hoss finally brought Kevin, carharttmo, around to meet everyone.

Another strapping cowboyesque rural-type fellah. Except instead of this woofy shell containing the spirit of a little boy, within this one beat the heart of a St. Charles Soccer Mom and Martha Stewart.

kevin and hossKind… Sensible… dare I say “motherly” – Kevin is probably one of the sweetest, genuine folks we’ve ever met. It was a perfect fit.

Sure, I’m the first to tease about Kev’s country-butt-sensibilities and passion for crafty type stuff, (like making headboards out of recovered barn wood) – but he knows my sarcasm is laced with envy.
This side of learning how to mold plywood and tempting lawsuits from Herman Miller – we can’t make stuff that fits our tastes.

Alright – never-mind the character sketches… “They Lived Happily Ever After”.

The duo recently bought a house and had their first party / house-warming last Sunday… Of course, we were invited.. Of course, we wouldn’t miss it.

They found their dream house in a tiny little town in Illinois called Highland. At nearly an hour away – it’s a schlep “Over the river and through the soybean fields”. It couldn’t be any more suited for them.

A HUGE 100 year old home nestled into a sleepy little agricultural community – Kevin already has it tricked out and country-fried-fabulized the joint. Of course, it’s not our look – but if I “had” to live in it – I’d want Kevin to do it.

The party was fun… We talked Glass in via cell phone who was en-route to St. Louis.

Alright – so that was last Sunday… A week later… It’s not like I’m blogging or anything so why should I feel bad for back-posting in the present.
