sightseeing
Mr. Glass gifted Burnout 3 for Kevin’s birthday which Chad and Kevin spent most of the morning playing while our house-guest and I pecked at our computers and did work-type-things.
Made brunch – followed by the requisite egg-comma and then off downtown early to bop around Laclede’s Landing until the concert.
The Landing was all there was to this city back in the days when beaver pelts were considered currency. It’s since turned into a tourist trappy environment of wax museums, heterosexual meat markets and restaurants. It’s also the home of the best place to catch a band.
Mississippi Nights. A low-slung dark smokey dive where there isn’t a bad seat in the house and a great place to catch acts that are on the “way up”.
The opener was out of NYC called “Ambulance Unlimited” (or Limited) – they were good… so good actually that we picked up their album at the t-shirt stand.
The Killers – well… What’s not to love. They sound like Duran Duran and The Cure had a lovechild…
Their stage presence was a little ho-hum – but they sounded great.
En-route home Glass requested Jack in the Box for the after-the-show dinner. He didn’t have to twist our arm.
As always it was too soon before we had to exchange hugs and send him on his way this morning.

Mom went back in for the gal bladder surgery so I’m behind. It was pretty screwed up according to the Surgeon and stuck to some adjacent organs. (ewwww).. Nontheless, she did fine – but in a lot of pain so I’ve been camping at the hospital where I can’t connect… Even tried sneaking an ethernet cable into the jack where the registration terminals are – but I can’t seem to get out to the “World” via that…. Not like I’m making excuses or anything for not-not doing something – what am I talking about? (packs up laptop and heads back to Barnes West).
