Patriot’s Dayâ„¢

See Figure 9-11

I suppose every generation has their equivalent of the Kennedy Assassination. Ask anyone your parent’s age and they’ll be able to tell you exactly where they were and what they were doing when the story hit.

We were a year into our mass-media boycott… Still living in the first house in dogtown. The phone rang, it was Art:

“I know you weirdoes don’t watch TV so I thought I better call.. An airplane just crashed into one of the world trade center buildings!”

We turned on the radio and sat in silence as the rest of the morning played out.

I remember saying “Life as we’ve known it is over…” – I had no idea to what degree:

This act of terrorism, the senseless extinguishing of human life to “make a point” – would usher in an era of renegade leadership, fear, paranoia, war and divide a once great nation.

I find the coining of the term “Patriot’s Day” inappropriate – and vaguely insulting.

September 11th shall always retain one title and one title alone in my mind…. Elise’s Birthday.

Happy Birthday devcubber

I’m not blogging.
