dine out for life

Dining out for Life was last night. (*A city-wide charity event where participating restaurants take a percentage of their sales for a given night and donate it to St. Louis Effort for AIDS).

The Crippens had to cancel so we invited Leah and Stephen to take their place with us at Wildflower.

The meal was great… My appetizer was sex: “Chicken and Olive Empanadas” : Cuban-style chicken with green olives, raisins, bell peppers, garlic and cumin – all wrapped up in rice paper and fried…. Served with a mango-pomegranate glaze.

*faints*

Five people + two rounds of wine + appetizers + main entrees + desert = X

X equals more than we’re used to paying for dinner out – but that’s the point right?

All forms of charity should be this delicious.

All forms of blogging are deniable.

long weekend

4-Day weekend and I barely touched my computer…. let alone not blog…. and it’s o.k….

Observed Thanksgiving with Leah and Stephen by way of a twenty-something pound, Cajun-injected turkey which was then plunged into 350° oil for about forty minutes.

oh wow was it good…. They brought over Chorizo sausage stuffing to go with the bird which was equally kickass. We did the sides and appetizers…. My mom baked us a pumpkin pie.

Rico, Elise & Andy stopped by later that night….

It was a gluttonous day of food and friends to kick off the long weekend which included:

• More house cleaning.
• Finally taking my big camera into the shop for repairs.
• My bosses’ family popping in and hanging out.
• Debauchery at JJ’s Saturday night with Chad’s co-worker’s.
• Christmas decorating.

*all of which may or may not be not blogged in the days to come as I empty out my phone’s memory.

march of the libras

Fall’s here right? Besides cooler temperatures, looking for pumpkins and tripping over candy displays at the store,… I know what this means: Birthdays.

This starts the season where the bulk of the birthdays hit… Strangely, a high ratio of my friends seem to be Libras.

I completely suck at trying to keep track of them all and usually have to rely on the shameful cop-out of letting my friends call me and tell me what they’d like to do to celebrate.

Leah, princess AND a libra – is very good at this.

She gave us a call and told us that she wanted to get together with us: go to Dewey’s and then go back to our place for drinks and games of Outburstâ„¢.

Easy enough…

Sidenote: Original thanks to Glass for introducing us to Dewy’s up in Cincinnati. Now that they’ve opened one here – it’s becoming our grown-up equivalent to Chucky Cheese. (Sans mole-hole games and animatronic bears)… It’s perceived as a treat to get excited about and worthy of birthday celebrations.

We’re not the only folks enamored with the Cinci pizza chain. The wait to get a table is as consistent as the very good food. We finally got seated… Shoveled down awesome salads and pizza and headed home for said board-game fun.

Fun night! They asked what I’d like to do for my fast approaching day…

“Go to Dewey’s and then hang out and play Uno or something.”

MMmm… Ruts. All stuff not to blog about.

from sunday

I’m late out of the gate this morning… gotta get my butt downtown to J.O.B.

Sunday we went over to Leah and Steven’s for a cookout and to meet her friend from Arizona… An herbalist / acupuncture / shaman lady person.

She was a HOOT…. I adore hippies.

Gotta run…. not blog.
